am a PhD student in journalism/
mass communications at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, where I teach a range of undergraduate journalism courses. Prior to grad school, I was a reporter at The Vindicator, the daily newspaper in Youngstown Ohio.
My hobbies include winemaking and working on my classic VW Dormobile camper. Once in a great while I write a book review.

YOUNGSTOWN -- More than 80 percent of the homes built under the jurisdiction of the Mahoning County Building Inspection Department last year were never fully inspected, department records show. This story, based on computer analysis of building inspection records from 1999, won first place for investigative reporting at the 2001 Ohio SPJ awards and third place for enterprise reporting at the 2000 Ohio AP awards.
